Cai Changpan, an inmate who escaped from Tangerang Class I Prison, was found dead by hanging in the Jasinga Forest area, Bogor Regency. Currently the body of the Chinese citizen was transferred to the National Police Hospital for an autopsy.
“We have brought the body, it is now in the National Police Hospital for an autopsy,” said Polda Metro Public Relations chief Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus when contacted. detikcom, Saturday (10/17/2020).
Yusri reported that Cai Changpan was found dead by hanging himself in a tire warehouse in Jasinga, Bogor Regency. Cai Changpan’s body was found around 10:30 WIB earlier.
“This morning at 10.30 WIB was found in a tire warehouse in Jasinga. In a tire factory in Jasinga, but still in a forest area,” he said.
There have been no further explanations on the chronology of the discovery of Cai Changpan’s body. However, Yusri confirmed that Cai Changpan’s body had been evacuated.
As is known, Cai Changpan escaped from the Class I Tangerang Prison on September 14, 2020. Cai Changpan escaped by digging a 30-meter hole behind the wall of his cell.
When he escaped, he brought his cellmate’s cell phone. Four and a half hours after escaping from Tangerang Prison, Cai Changpan was already at his wife’s home in the Tenjo area, Bogor Regency.
Cai Changpan is said to have met his wife briefly and gave her the cell phone. After that, Cai Changpan was said to have fled to the Tenjo forest area, Bogor Regency.
Police believe Cai Changpan is in the forest based on the testimony of several witnesses. Several residents had seen Cai Changpan leave the forest to buy food.
Five teams were deployed to hunt Cai Changpan in the forest at that time. Polda Metro Jaya even implemented sniffer dogs (K-9) and Brimob to maximize searches. The search ended after police found his body this morning in Jasinga.
