Viral video of a police car escorting 3 people jogging on the road, this is an explanation from the Bali Police

DENPASAR, KOMPAS.com – A video showing a police car escorting several people playing sports in Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Bali, has gone viral on social media.

The man being escorted is believed to have the initials RM, who is the grandson of an Indonesian businessman.

The video was taken on Thursday (10/15/2020) around 08.50 WITA.

In the video, the man, allegedly RM, who is holding his dog, runs with two men. In front of them, a police car was seen escorting them.

Meanwhile, a white car was seen walking slowly behind the running man.

Bali Police Chief of Public Relations Kombes Pol Syamsi confirmed the video. He also confirmed that the incident occurred on Thursday (10/15/2020) around 08.50 WITA.

According to him, the police involved in the escort were being questioned by the Professional and Security Division of the Bali Police.

“Now the Polda Propam has conducted an interrogation and an examination,” Syamsi said when contacted on Friday (10/16/2020).

Several officers involved in the escort were investigated for allegedly violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the escort.

However, Syamsi did not specify the number of officers questioned.

“This is not in accordance with the procedure so it is verified. The escort has requirements that must be met. It is not in accordance with the escort’s SOP,” he said.

When asked about the identity of the party being guarded, Syamsi admitted that he did not know.

“I do not know, what is clear is that we are only investigating for errors of the members. What is clear is that they committed violations within the framework of surveillance procedures,” he said.
