The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) dismissed the statement of the Indonesian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Agus Maftuh Abegebriel, on the diction of ‘tsaurah’ which is interpreted as a coup. The FPI emphasized that it had no meaning of blow in its press release.

“In the Indonesian translation we published together, ‘tsaurah’ means ‘revolution’, we also reinforce that what is meant by revolution is a moral revolution,” DPP FPI Chairman Slamet Maarif told reporters on Friday (16 / 10/2020).

With the statements of Agus Maftuh, who often interpreted the wrong attitude of the FPI, Slamet considered Agus Maftuh as one of the obstacles for Habib Rizieq Syihab to return to Indonesia. Slamet said he was sure of this.

“To further strengthen our suspicion that Agus Maftuh is one of the variables that hindered the return of HRS (Habib Rizieq Syihab), he will now link it to the legal (criminal) aspect for IB HRS (High Priest Habib Rizieq Syihab) don’t go back to Indonesia, “he said.

Additionally, Slamet asked Agus Maftuh to fulfill his duties and functions as a diplomat. Slamet asked Agus Maftuh to protect all Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Saudi Arabia, including Habib Rizieq.

“I once advised Mr. Ambassador that his job as a diplomat was to protect, protect and assist the citizens (IB HRS) in Saudi Arabia, not the other way around, but to oppress and hinder their return. Repent, Mr. Ambassador, before you regret” Slamet said.

Earlier, Ambassador Agus Maftuh lamented the use of the diction ‘tsaurah’ in the FPI press release on Habib Rizieq Syihab’s plan to return to Indonesia. Agus said that ‘tsaurah’ in Arabic can mean ‘hit’.

“We regret the Arabic documents read yesterday at the rally, especially the diction ‘tsaurah’ which is a translation of ‘revolution’. It is very taboo in Saudi Arabia. ‘Tsaurah’ can mean ‘inqilab’ (blow), ‘faudha’ (chaos, chaos), ‘intifadhah’ (rebellion), ‘taqatul’ (war, killing each other), ‘idhtirab’ (security disturbances) and ‘tamarrud’ (rebellion), “said Agus detikcom, Friday (10/16).

“It is very sensitive to read by the Saudi Arabian public. And I am sure that the Saudis and Muslims will not be willing to use the holy city of Mecca to shout ‘tsaurah’ against a country that is syar’iyyah (constitutional) of the Republic of Indonesia, “said Agus.

The ‘tsaurah’ diction used by FPI is contained in a press release in three languages. The press release was titled ‘Announcement from the Holy City of Mecca on the planned return of IB-HRS’.

The diction ‘tsaurah’ is on the second page of the Arabic press release. FPI defines ‘tsaurah’ as revolution.
