KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian National Army (TNI) fired soldiers suspected of having deviant sexual behavior.
The Chief of Information of the Regional Military Command (Kapendam) IV / Diponegoro, Lieutenant Colonel Kav Susanto, said that the dismissal was carried out as a form of assertiveness of the TNI institution.
“This is a firm action from our unit against LGBT behavior,” he said when confirmed, on Thursday (10/15/2020).

As previously reported, quoted on the Supreme Court website on Wednesday (10/14/2020), a member of the TNI with the rank of military chief has been sentenced to one year in prison by the II-10 Military Court of Semarang.
In the verdict, the soldier involved same-sex relationships.

Susanto explained that the selection process had been carried out since the recruitment of the TNI soldiers.
In addition to physical tests, TNI also conducted mental and psychological health tests, as well as ideological tests.
To anticipate a repeat of the incident, the Diponegoro Military Command has issued a Telegram Letter confirming the prohibition of acts of deviant sexual conduct for active soldiers.

Susanto emphasized that deviant sexual conduct was not justified as a soldier.
