President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is said to have signed a presidential decree (Keppres) to remove Irwandi Yusuf from the governor of Aceh. Irwandi was fired after the decision on the corruption case was legally binding.

“On August 12, I saw the decree in the room of DPRA Vice President III,” DPR Aceh Vice President I Dalimi said when asked for confirmation on Thursday (10/15/2020).

Dalimi admitted that he had taken a photo of Presidential Decree number 73 / P 2020 on ‘Ratification of the removal of the Governor of Aceh for the period 2017-2020’. However, he does not yet know what the Keppres process will be like in Aceh DPR.

According to him, the Presidential Decree must be read in full. However, the DPR Aceh leadership has yet to do so.

“Now the question is why the institution has not done that,” said the Democratic Party politician.

He said that the Aceh Governance Act No. 11 of 2006 (UUPA), Article 23, paragraph 1, letter d, explained that the DPR of Aceh had the duty and authority to propose the appointment or removal of the governor or deputy governor to the President of the Republic of Indonesia through the Minister of the Interior.

“In the Palestinian Authority Law, starting with the Governor / Lieutenant Governor, Regent / Lieutenant Governor and Mayor / Deputy Mayor being appointed and removed, the process must be in the DPRA / DPRK if we are in Aceh,” he explained.

The head of the Governance Office of the Aceh Secretariat (Tapem), Syakir, admitted that the Aceh government had not yet received the Presidential Decree. “Tapem has not received it,” Syakir said when confirmed separately.

Previously, the Supreme Court (MA) circumcised Irwandi’s sentence from 8 years in prison in the Jakarta High Court to 7 years in prison. MA argued that Irwandi had contributed to Indonesia.

“The content of the verdict rejects the appeal of the prosecutor and the defendant with an amendment to the length of the sentence imposed by the Corruption Court in the Jakarta High Court from eight years in prison to seven years in prison with a fine of 300 million of subsidiary rupees and 3 months in prison, “said MA spokesman Andi. Samsan Nganro to detikcom, Friday (2/14).

The panel of judges that judged Irwandi’s cassation was chaired by Supreme Court Justice Prof. Surya Jaya and the member judges were Judge Krisna Harahap and Judge Askin. The Supreme Court found the Jakarta High Court decision to be inaccurate because it increased Irwandi’s sentence to 8 years.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court judged Irwandi as the former Governor of Aceh Irwandi had served in Aceh by creating peace in Aceh. On that consideration, the Supreme Court cut Irwandi’s sentence.

At the first level, the Jakarta Corruption Court found that Irwandi was shown to have accepted a Rs 1 billion bribe from the former Regent of Bener Meriah Ahmadi. The money was given for Irwandi Yusuf to approve the Aceh Special Autonomy Fund (DOKA) development program in 2018.

After that, the Jakarta High Court (PT) sentenced Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf to 8 years in prison, before 7 years in prison. In addition, the upper house revoked Irwandi’s political rights for 5 years.

Irwandi is known to have gradually accepted bribes through his trusted people, namely Hendri Yuzal and Teuku Saiful Bahri. In addition, Irwandi is said to have received Rs 8.717 billion in bonuses during his tenure as governor of Aceh. Irwandi Yusuf served as Governor of Aceh from 2007-2012 and 2017-2022.
