JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The General Directorate of Crimes of the National Criminal Investigation Police cited the former Major General of the Special Forces of Kopassus TNI (Purn) Soenarko in the case that imputes him in 2019, namely the alleged possession of illegal weapons.
The police scheduled an interrogation of Soenarko on Friday (10/16/2020) in his capacity as a suspect.
“The withdrawal of suspect Soenarko is related to the case of possession of firearms in 2019,” said the Director General of Criminal Investigation Crimes of the National Police Brigadier General (Pol) Ferdy Sambo when contacted, on Thursday (15 / 10/2020).

Ferdy said the summons was to provide legal certainty to the suspect.
According to Ferdy, his party will immediately send the case file to the public prosecutor (JPU) when it is complete.
“The obligation of the investigator to provide legal certainty to the suspect, if the elements of the article are complete and fulfilled, they will be sent immediately to the Prosecutor’s Office for trial,” he said.
The determination of the suspect Soenarko was previously announced by the then Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, during a press conference in his office on May 21, 2019.
Wiranto said Soenarko was suspected of possessing illegal firearms.

At the time, Soenarko was considered a possible threat to national security because the weapons in his possession were suspected of being used for smuggling during the May 22 riots.
Soenarko was also detained. However, the police granted the proposed stay of Soenarko’s detention with the guarantor of the TNI commander, TNI Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and the coordinating minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
