Gatot Nurmantyo is suspected of hacking and asked OUR members to be released

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Presidium of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (KAMI) Gatot Nurmantyo suspects that someone hacked the mobile phones of several American members before the National Police arrested several figures of the organization for the demonstration against the Creation Law of Work (UU).

“We confirm that there are strong indications hand phone some of OUR figures in recent days have been hacked or controlled by certain parties so it is very likely that they will be intercepted or duplicated (cloned), ”Gatot said in a written statement on Wednesday (10/14/2020).

According to Gatot, these attacks are often carried out against activists who are critical of state power, including American figures.

“As a result, the evidence available for the conversation is often contrived and absurd,” he said.

Gatot emphasized that his party rejects anarchist actions in demonstrations associated with the US organization.

He stated, WE support national strikes and unions as a way of enforcing constitutional rights under the Labor Rights Act.

Furthermore, WE do not institutionally participate in the action.

“Except for giving freedom to supporters to join and help protesters on humanitarian grounds,” he said.

In addition, he asked the police to release the US figures from accusations of violation of the ITE Act, which, in his opinion, contained “rubber articles.”

According to him, the National Police must act fairly to enforce the law and not target one of the parties.

“Even if the ITE Law is to be implemented, the National Police must be fair, that is, not only targeting the United States, while many parties on social media indulge in hate tests that have a racial dimension, but Polri keep quiet, “Gatot said.

Previously, the Police Headquarters secured eight American activists in different places.

Three of the eight people who were insured were US officials. The three are Anton Permana, Syahganda Nainggolan, and Jumhur Hidayat.

Meanwhile, five other people with the initials JG, NZ, WRP, KA and KAMI President Medan Khairi Amri.
