Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto stated that there are still many subordinates of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) that report the results of the work that do not coincide with what happened in the field. Prabowo also said that there were subordinates who tried to lead him to make certain decisions.
Prabowo revealed this in an interview with the Gerindra Party whose documents were received CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (10/12) night.
“Yes, what is the culture of the Indonesian people, a little scared to give the real report. There are also those who I think they like, leading the leaders to make decisions like that,” Prabowo said.
However, Prabowo said that Jokowi was a truly nationalist figure. According to him, the former governor of DKI Jakarta has good intentions and always thinks about the interests of the people.
“I see more of how he works and I’m sure his intentions are good. I’m not a big fan here or anything, I’m sure he’s a nationalist, he thinks of people,” he said.
On that occasion, Prabowo recounted the beginning of his incorporation to the Jokowi administration. The former Koppasus commander admitted that he never expected that Jokowi would be offered a ministerial position after the 2019 presidential election.
Prabowo said he decided to join and support the Jokowi administration after carrying out the reconciliation because he did not want Indonesian society to remain divided.
“So at that moment I saw and decided that it was okay, we are reconciling, we come together and give Pak Jokowi a chance to lead,” said Prabowo.
Soemitro’s son Djojohadikoesoemo spoke to Jokowi about his desire to take a break from national politics. From a young age, Prabowo realized that he had never taken a break and was always busy with work.
However, his desire to take time off from early retirement failed because Jokowi offered him the post of defense minister.
“I’m fine if I go in, I feel like I understand the defense sector,” he said.
Previously, Prabowo had referred to the culture of ‘whenever you are happy’ or ABS, which is still very present among the Indonesian National Army (TNI) in the 2019 Presidential Candidates Debate.
Prabowo’s statement was made in response to Jokowi’s statement when the defense and security budget was discussed in the debate.
