JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Political communication expert Effendi Gazali believes that President Jokowi’s statement that the demonstration against the Job Creation Bill occurred due to misinformation could be correct.
However, the statement of the Head of State can only be considered correct if he has read the final draft of the Job Creation Bill.
“It would be correct if the president had read everything and the president had gotten all the final drafts and read them all,” Effendi said when speaking with Kompas.com, Tuesday (10/13/2020).

On the other hand, President Jokowi’s statement was only said to be inaccurate when he had not read the final draft of the Works Creation Bill.
“(President Jokowi’s statement) is also not appropriate if the public does not have all the drafts in circulation,” he said.
“And the public is not sure which draft is the most correct according to what was eliminated in the plenary session of the DPR, last October 5,” Effendi continued.
Earlier, President Jokowi said that the demonstration against the Job Creation Bill was motivated by misinformation and deception.

“I see demonstrations against the Job Creation Bill that are basically motivated by misinformation on the substance of this law and deception on social media,” Jokowi said at a virtual press conference from the Presidential Palace, Bogor, on Friday ( 09/10/2020).
President Jokowi then presented a series of misinformation and hoaxes about the Job Creation Bill, as well as rebuttals.
For example, the matter of eliminating the provisions of the provincial minimum wage, district minimum wage and provincial sectoral minimum wage.
“This is not true. In fact, the regional minimum wage still exists,” he continued.
