le mans –
Fabio Quartararo failed to get on the podium in the French MotoGP. Even so, he was still satisfied because he managed to score points and get away from his opponents.
At the Bugatti Circuit, Le Mans, on Sunday (11/10/2020), Quartararo is expected to win. Also, he won pole position, which means he will come out ahead.
But the reality is different on the track. The falling rain made it difficult for Quartararo to perform optimally. The Petronas Yamaha SRT racer was not used to running on wet tracks.
As a result, his position continued to decline because he was overtaken by other riders, even dropping to 11th place.
Fortunately, a series of crashes experienced by the riders in front of him, such as Jack Miller, Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow, caused his position to change. He also knew how to take advantage of the opportunity and finally finished in ninth position.
“Racing at Le Mans was my first experience on a wet track. But the result was not too bad at the end, especially when it comes to the world title competition,” Quartararo was quoted as saying by GPOne.
“At the beginning of the race I had a little problem with my rear tire, unlike Dovi (zioso) or Petrucci who were strong. In the first laps I tried to maintain my position, but after the ninth lap I really had problems with the grip of the motorcycle “.
“I suffered a lot, especially when I came out of the corner. But the important thing now is to learn to understand what just happened in preparation for the future,” he explained.
Quartararo currently leads the drivers’ standings with 115 points from 9 races. He is 10 points ahead of Joan Mir (Suzuki) in second place and 18 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) who is in third place.
