Epidemiologists say transitional PSBB is not suitable for DKI, why?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The transitional policy of large-scale social restraint (PSBB) that will take effect in Jakarta from Monday (12/10/2020) is considered inappropriate. This is because the number of daily Covid-19 cases in Jakarta remains high.

“So in my opinion the transitional PSBB may not be suitable for DKI. It should continue or at least be local,” Tri Yunis University of Indonesia epidemiologist Miko Wahyono told CNBC Indonesia in Jakarta on Sunday (10 / 11/2020).

Furthermore, he continued, DKI Jakarta had to wait for the exact number of cases to increase due to the demonstration against the ratification of the Employment Creation Law that took place last week. Because, if it turns out that there is an increase in cases due to the protests, it will affect hospital services in Jakarta.

“If the increase in cases due to the demonstrations increases 2 times, DKI Jakarta will be full of services,” he said.

According to him, community participation in the strict PSBB was rated lower and decreased in the second phase of the PSBB. The estimate is that in the second stage of the PSBB, only 30% of the community stayed at home.

“The second edition (by pressing the PSBB) was continued twice, it did not work. There are still many cases, the positivity rate is still high,” Anies said.

On the other hand, the business community responded positively to Anies’ policy. In addition to hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs, retail entrepreneurs also received positive responses.

The Indonesian Retail Business Association (Aprindo) hopes that the PSBB with a transition plan can increase the number of visitors to shopping malls in Jakarta. Therefore, retail spending will also increase.

Regarding the transitional PSBB, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan allows Jakarta shopping malls to open from 10am to 9pm WIB. These hours of operation are almost the same as before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Not only that, restaurants and retail stores to theaters can also be open from morning until 9pm WIB. This certainly provides fresh air for retailers.

“If you can open a restaurant, it is expected that with the increase in visits from the public, modern retail will start to work again as in July,” Aprindo president Roy Mande told CNBC Indonesia on Sunday (10/11 / 2020).

Menuru him, the increase in retail sales will be seen if the public’s visits to shopping malls also increase.

“Those places – restaurants, cafes, movie theaters and family entertainment – will bring people back to the stores and malls,” Roy said.

From the PSBB transition regulatory document cited by CNBC Indonesia on Sunday (11/10/2020), there are various health requirements and protocols that shopping malls must implement during this period.

First, the number of visitors to the shopping centers is only 50% of capacity before the PSBB was held. Second, shopping malls must collect visitor data using an appropriate guest book or technology system.

For shopping centers and shopping centers, the transitional period of PSBB can be applied immediately. This means that from tomorrow all the shopping centers in Jakarta will be able to open normally.
