le mans –
The French riders are still not even with MotoGP racing at home. This follows Fabio Quartararo’s failure to win the 2020 French MotoGP.
In the race that took place at the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans on Sunday (11/10/2020), Quartararo achieved pole position. However, that position was freed after the first lap and Quartararo seemed to be struggling to maintain his place in the front row.
Quartararo slowly but steadily dropped his position until he was out of the top 10 on lap 16. Quartararo then tried to improve his position until he finally finished only ninth and was unable to widen the gap with his competitors in the 2020 MotoGP qualifying.
Quartararo still controls the top of the standings with 115 points, but the difference with second place Joan Mir is only five points. In addition, Andrea Dovizioso also threatened third with 97 points.
So since he couldn’t finish first, Quartararo couldn’t end the curse at the French drivers’ home. Because the last time a French rider won a motorcycle race was Louis Rossi in the Moto3 category in 2012.
For the upper class, the last time a French rider succeeded was Jacquez Collot when it was still called the 500cc in 1958 or 62 years ago. Indeed, French first-class motorcycle racing is not a pleasant place for local representatives, because apart from Collot, only Pierre Monneret won in 1954.
So when will the host rider win in the French MotoGP? We will wait for the next season.
