The head of the Jagakarsa sub-district, Alamsyah, said that the flooding in the village of Ciganjur in South Jakarta (South Jakarta) occurred due to an overflow of children from Kali Setu. The river flow was covered by the avalanche of house walls until the water overflowed and flooded the settlements of the residents.

“Today’s flood happened because the first time, the child of the River Setu was covered by an avalanche of walls from the Melati Residence, so the water that should have flowed from south to north was closed so that the water overflowed towards residential areas, “Alamsyah said when meeting at the Ciganjur flood site. , Saturday (10/10/2020).

At least 100 residents were evacuated and transferred to the nearest refugee post. The water level in residential areas reaches 1.5 meters.

“The height of the overflowing water was between 75 cm and 1.5 meters,” he explained.

The flood in Ciganjur flooded 300 houses. Residents affected by the flood were immediately evacuated to a safer location.

“The number of submerged houses is around 300 houses, then some of the residents of the house have been evacuated to the nearest post, then there are also their closest relatives,” Alamsyah said.

Basarnas officers, DKI BPBD, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) volunteers are waiting at the scene and helping to evacuate residents. Alamsyah said logistical assistance was also available for refugees from the Ciganjur flood.

“Much of our logistical assistance has been received from NGOs, PMI and the provincial BPBD are also being prepared,” he said.
