Jakarta –
The ranks of Kodam Jaya helped the police secure the rally against the general law of the Job Creation Law in Jakarta, which ended in chaos. TNI helped secure the rioters and found that their confession came from out of town because they had been promised they would give them money after the rally.
“We have arrested some. They don’t understand what their purpose is, they even left Subang,” Major General Dudung Abdurachman of Pangdam Jaya told a press conference on Friday (09/10/2020).
Dudung asked the protesters who moved Subang’s group. The protester admitted that someone had asked him to come with a promise of money.
“He didn’t bring money at all, some only (brought) Rp. 10,000. I imagine what he would use after the demonstration. The results from the cell phones we saw, they promised him that after the demonstration he would get money,” Dudung said.
“Even the driving force did not reach Jakarta. It stopped at Pamanukan. It is a pity that people who do not understand receive incorrect information,” he added.
Kodam Jaya’s ranks also helped protect the protesters. Pangdam Jaya also doubted that the rioters actually came from groups of students.
“And I saw those who carried out the throw to the police that I saw, I’m not sure it was a student. The student was wearing the alma mater jacket,” Dudung explained.
“So when someone threw them, I would come from the Kodam and the marines would immediately pursue them. Because they were too brave. In my opinion, the state apparatus should not be trapped, stoned with large stones. The police are still patient. undertake joint action, both TNI and the police, “he continued.
Dudung said that the rioters who were secured by TNI were later turned over to Polda Metro Jaya.
“Those who were insured were immediately taken to the Regional Police and I saw that a rapid test was carried out immediately,” Dudung said.
As is known, the demonstration to reject the bus law in Jakarta ended in chaos at several points, on Thursday (8/10). The crowd confronted the police, throwing stones and tear gas at each other.
As a result, the masses damaged several public facilities. In fact, the protesters set fire to bus stops, police posts and MRT stations. Even the Grand Theater Senen cinema in central Jakarta was torched by mobs.
