Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Transportation Jakarta reported that dozens of Transjakarta bus stops scattered in various areas of the capital were damaged today by mobs in the protest against the Omnibus Act of the Job Creation Act. This was conveyed by Nadia Diposanjoyo as Head of Public Relations Division and Corporate Secretary of PT Transportation Jakarta in a statement received by CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (10/8/2020) evening.

“The massive action that began this afternoon resulted in the destruction and burning of facilities and infrastructure used and proud of the residents of Jakarta. As of 8:30 p.m., only 18 (eighteen) Transjakarta bus stops were known to have been damaged by irresponsible people. “Nadia said.

According to him, this demonstration resulted in the burning and looting of Transjakarta bus stops throughout, namely:

In addition to the burns, the masses also damaged bus stops and facilities at several other bus stops in Transjakarta.

Nadia said that the estimated losses suffered by Transjakarta have so far reached 45 billion rupees.
“We do not yet know the total losses experienced by this destruction, not only the residents who will have difficulty making the transit, because reconstruction takes time at this modern stop,” he said.

“Transjakarta deeply regrets and strongly condemns the action of the bus stops and the residents’ facilities, especially the HI roundabout. This is because the HI roundabout stop is one of the facilities that all Indonesians must monitor together.” Nadia continued.

FYI, the Bundaran HI stop itself was just opened on March 25, 2019 and has become a modern stop integrated with the MRT station.

Additionally, Nadia said that Transjakarta is still calculating the ultimate losses caused by anarchist actions that harm DKI residents in the comfort of using Transjakarta facilities. Furthermore, for the operational services of tomorrow, Transjakarta is still awaiting the evolving situation and conditions on the ground.
