The Jokowi government, through the Minister of Politics, Law and Security Mahfud in a press conference on Thursday (10/08) in the evening, stated that it would take firm measures against what it called intellectual actors and perpetrators of anarchist and criminal acts. who rejected the Employment Creation Law.

This was stated by Mahfud MD in a press conference in his office on Thursday (10/08) at 9:00 p.m. WIB, responding to the latest advances in protests against the Employment Creation Law in a number of areas that were marked by the chaos and destruction of state facilities.

Accompanied by the minister and related security officials, Dr. Menkopolhukam Mahfud said:

“For the sake of order and security, the government will take a firm stance on anarchist actions that aim to create chaos and fear in society.”

Mahfud later repeated the sentence, adding “to carry out a judicial process” against what he called “all the perpetrators and intellectual actors who rode” for anarchist actions that have taken the form of criminal acts.

“I repeat, once again the government will take a firm position and carry out legal proceedings against all perpetrators and actors who mount in anarchist actions that have taken the form of criminal acts,” he said.

In the opening part of his press conference, Mahfud said the government did not prohibit people from demonstrating as long as it was “orderly and does not violate the law.

He also said that “discontent with the law can be pursued in accordance with the Constitution, that is, by channeling it into the process of drafting government regulations, presidential decrees, sweets, regional regulations, as delegates of legislation.”

“It can even be presented through a judicial review mechanism or a judicial review or a formal trial before the Constitutional Court.”

At the beginning of the press conference, Mahfud said that the issue of the rejection of the Omnibus Law was tainted with deception. He then briefly denied the accusations of not being faithful to the articles of the law.
