Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday (8/10) is scheduled to visit Central Kalimantan. Jokowi will kick off the food barn program.

Protocol, Press and Media Deputy Bey Machmuddin explained that Jokowi has a working visit scheduled to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. He is scheduled to inspect the Giant Food Barn or Food Estate.

“The president is scheduled to visit Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan to review the Food Estate program,” he explained, on Wednesday (7/10).


This is in line with the program to provide 30 thousand hectares of land in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan, which is the location of a giant food barn (food farm) that was completed in October 2020.

Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo said the government has started working on these lands. Construction time is estimated at more than a month.

“Approximately 48 days, God willing, the management of the land has been completed,” Syahrul said, at a press conference after a limited meeting, on Wednesday (9/23/2020).

At that time, the Minister of Agriculture SYL said that Jokowi would come to the place in the first week of October 2020 to verify the work of the food farm. Jokowi will also address himself kick off Food farm in the area.

“I guess after kick off, 48 days later, God willing, the planting of 30 thousand hectares will be completed. For example, to enter in 2021, around 80 thousand to approximately 164,598 hectares, ”he said.

The Pulang Pisau area is indeed an area that is considered suitable. In fact, the government has put together a pretty massive farming system tool.
