JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Minister of Labor (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah declared, in the Omnibus Law, the Employment Creation Law (UU) does not contain the elimination of the minimum wage.
The determination of the minimum wage continues to be based on government regulations.
“So, we still establish this minimum wage, then the provisions also refer to Law 13/2003 and PP No. 78/2015. In fact, it will be regulated by government regulations. Then the detailed formula will be regulated by government regulations,” he said in a conference. online press, Wednesday (10/7/2020).

Ida also ensured that the district / city minimum wage (UMK) was maintained.
“There is a statement of variables and formulas to determine the minimum wage based on economic growth or inflation. Apart from that, the provisions regarding district / city minimum wages are also maintained. I repeat to emphasize that the district minimum wages are maintained. / city, “he said.
Another thing, Menaker continued, was that the Job Creation Act removed the suspension of minimum wage payments. According to him, this is clearly established in the Employment Creation Law. In addition, strengthening wage protection for workers / workers and increasing the growth of the micro and small business sector, the Employment Creation Law also regulates wages in the MSMEs sector.
Ida emphasized that the wording of the regulation not only emphasizes informal workers, but must also guarantee the protection of micro and small businesses.
“Then, we also expect the expansion of job opportunities for our MSMEs and salaries will be regulated in the Employment Creation Law,” he said.
Earlier, the President of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) Said Iqbal stated that the Omnibus Law of the Employment Creation Law, especially the Employment group, is harmful to the workers. One of them is by the elimination of UMP, UMK, UMSK and UMSP.

According to him, the UMK is conditional, which will later be regulated by the government. This, he said, was just an alibi for the government to eliminate the UMK in regions that had been in force so far, because the authority for it rests with the government. While in Law Number 13 of 2003, the UMK is determined without conditions.
In addition, what is required to be determined is the provincial minimum wage (UMP). This, according to Said Iqbal, further emphasized that UMK would be eliminated, because it was no longer an obligation to stipulate.
What the workers want is for the UMK to be established in accordance with Law no. 13 of 2013 without conditions, in reference to the needs of a decent life (KHL).
