REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Famous presenter Najwa Shihab’s action in conducting a monologue interview with an empty chair, who was introduced as Health Minister (Menkes) Terawan, became a hot topic of conversation. However, the Jokowi United Volunteer (Joko Widodo) reported the action to Polda Metro Jaya, on Tuesday (6/10).
“The incident of the Najwa Shihab vacant chair interview has hurt our hearts as advocates of the president. Because Minister Terawan is a representative of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo,” said the president of United Volunteers of Jokowi, Silvia Devi Soembarto, when meeting at Polda Metro Jaya in South Jakarta on Tuesday (10/6).
Silvia was concerned that if Najwa Shihab’s actions were allowed to be repeated and could be imitated by other journalists. She considered conducting empty interviews with sources and that set a bad precedent for journalists themselves. That is also what made the volunteer decide to make a report to the police.
“We were accepted by SPKT and we will go cyber. Because we are dealing with the ITE Law and also the minister’s office, which is notably the state office. It is also reported that we will provide somasi to Trans7 and we will report to the press council after this, ”Silvia said.
The prediction, according to Silvia, is cyber bullying. Because the informant was not present, he was interviewed and performed a skit. Silvia considered parody an act that should not be taken against state officials, especially ministers. Since the Minister of Health Terawam is a representation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
“In the Civil and Criminal Code, when we speak with journalists, we do use the press law but it is also reported in a civil and criminal way through the courts or the police. When we are both stuck, we go to the press council to ask for directions. “Silvia explained.
Regarding the evidence that was brought, Silvia said, there was a video clip from YouTube. However, she does not rule out other evidence, after reporting to the Cyber section of the Metro Jaya Police. She then also admitted that she had contacted the press council and would discuss this matter.
“The press council opens up the opportunity for us to come and discuss. Because we do not want to attack anyone, we only want the treatment of Najwa Shihab, in front of millions of Indonesians, not to be repeated by other journalists or simply imitated,” Silvia concluded.
