Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Up to two million workers are reported to be going on a national strike today, Tuesday (6/10/2020). This happened after yesterday the House of Representatives (DPR) approved the plenary session supporting the Omnibus Bill for the Creation of Works.
This was emphasized by the president of the Indonesian Workers’ Trade Unions Confederation (KSPI), Said Iqbal. The strike will take place from October 6 to 8, 2020.
Other sectors are the steel industry, pharmaceuticals and health, printing and publishing, the tourism industry, the cement industry, telecommunications, transport workers, dock workers, logistics, banking, among others.
The 2 million workers who will join the national strike include Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tengerang Raya, Serang and Cilegon.
The following are Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Cirebon, Bandung Raya, Semarang, Kendal, Jepara, Yogjakarta, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, Mojokerto, and Pasuruan.
Also Aceh, Padang, Solok, Medan, Deli Serdang, Medium Bedagai, Batam, Bintan, Karimun, Muko-Muko, Bengkulu, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Bandar Lampung and South Lampung.
In addition, national strikes will also take place in Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Mataram, Lombok, Ambon, Makassar, Gorontalo, Manadao, Bitung, Kendari, Morowali, Papua and West Papua.
