4 unions vote not to join labor strike to reject job creation bill

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A total of four unions, namely KSPSI Yoris, KSBSI, KSPN and KSARBUMUSI emphasized that they refused to participate in the national strike that was scheduled for October 6 and 8, 2020.

The four union confederations feel the need to strengthen their position to provide safety to workers / workers responding to the current situation

In a statement made by KSPSI President Yoris Raweai, KSBSI President Elly Rosita Silaban, KSARBUMUSI President Syaiful Bahri Anshori and KSPN Ristadi President, on Monday (May 10, 2020), they stated a number of things related to the Draft Law on Job Creation.

They claimed that in connection with the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Bill, they had carried out advocacy activities, including through critical studies, mass letter-writing, hearings to the Indonesian government and Parliament, and demonstrations.

The four unions also participated in the Tripartite Team to express criticism about the content of the Omnibus Law on the Draft Law for the Creation of Employment Clusters.

“We are currently monitoring the process of struggle to bring it in line with the expectations of Indonesian workers / workers,” the four unions wrote in their statement.

“In principle, we will make corrections and reject any policies that are harmful to people, especially Indonesian workers / workers, including the Omnibus Law on the Cipta Bill, the way the fight is certainly not the same as other components. from SP / SB for the same goal. ” they explained.

The reason why they did not participate in the national strike action was to consider the situation of the impact of the unfinished pandemic of the corona virus that has hit the economic and health sectors.

Another reason is to consider the suggestions developed, especially the regions and company-level officials regarding the situation and condition of the thousands of affiliates who are still being laid off, and the case of thousands of layoffs of our workers has not been resolved / labor members.

“Taking into account the aforementioned matters, we will not participate in the national strike action from October 6 to 8, 2020. To all our members to remain calm but remain vigilant in the developing situation,” they said.
