JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – An accident with Honda Mobilio and Mitsubishi Xpander has just occurred at Jalan Magelang KM 8, Sendangadi, Mlati Sleman, on Saturday (10/3/2020). This accident left four dead and four injured.

It is known that the victim who died was still a teenager and all were in the Honda Mobilio, while 3 others and an Xpander driver were injured. Therefore, driving a car is not only possible.

Sony Susmana, training director for Safety Defensive Consultant Indonesia, said the accidents that claimed lives could be due to a driver’s skill error.

“The chances are 90 percent of the skill error. The parameters are aggressive teenagers, small road conditions, so the ending is fatal,” Sony told Kompas.com, Saturday (03/10/2020).

Sony explained that skill errors occur due to driver limitations, such as flying hours and driving ability to control the vehicle, so their emotions are out of control.

“This limitation also causes that under certain or crucial conditions, the driver cannot control the vehicle properly,” said Sony.

Also, you need to remember that as a novice driver, you must first master the soft skills, before the hard skills. Soft skills here are like controlling emotions and hard skills to control vehicles.

“If you have mastered the soft skills, it will lead to common sense driving, especially problems with speed and the ability to control the vehicle,” he said.

If emotions can be controlled, then common sense is involved when driving. Sony gave an example, like regulating speed, keeping distance, yielding and others.
