Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Vice President of the MPR who is also the President of the DPP PDIP(HTI).
The book in question is titled Muhammad Al Fatih 1453 and contains information about the Ottoman caliphs who ruled in 1444-1446 and 1451-1481.
According to Basarah, it would be better if students were required to read and summarize books about Indonesian heroes. He also highlighted that the author of the book is a former member of a banned organization in Indonesia.
“I can’t help but think, if the reason for compelling this book of foreign figures is for students to emulate the heroism and leadership of past figures, although there are still many exemplary figures of national heroes that are worth reading,” Basarah said in a press release on Saturday (3/10).
Basarah said there are many heroic stories of national figures that should be discussed. For example, Pangeran Diponegoro, Hasyim Asyari, General Soedirman, Teuku Umar, Bung Tomo and Soekarno and other figures.
“Their exemplary stories have more reason for students and students to read,” Basarah said.
It is known that the Director of Bangka Belitung Provincial Office of Education has revoked the obligation of SMA / SMK students to compile a book by Felix Siauw. However, Basarah understands that this is still under the public eye.
However, he said, Felix Siauw is a member of HTI, which has been banned in Indonesia because it has an understanding that it is against Pancasila. It is natural for the public to question the attitude of the Head of the Bangka Belitung Province Bureau of Education.
Basarah then referred to Law no. 5 of 2014 on the state civil apparatus (ASN). He emphasized that ASN must adhere to the ideology of Pancasila.
Therefore, the attitude of the Director of the Bangka Belitung Office of Education is questionable when students are required to read books written by former HTI members.
Basarah agrees that the internalization of Pancasila’s values in the world of education is not yet strong because they are not explicitly regulated in Law no. 20 of 2003 relating to the National Education System. However, it does not mean that policy makers can circulate.
“Not because the education of Pancasila has not been activated at this level in the law, then the legislators in the regions can enter the values that are contrary to the foundation of our country, Pancasila,” Basarah said.
