JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government has launched a program of Productive Presidential Assistance (Banpres) or Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) of 2.4 million IDR, which is provided to microentrepreneurs as capital to open their businesses.
This program was originally scheduled to close in September 2020. However, as President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) increased the target of 3 million microentrepreneurs, this program was extended until December 2020.
“Initially we focused on only 9 million microentrepreneurs, but with the additional limit of 3 million microentrepreneurs who will receive assistance, the total number of microentrepreneurs who will receive this assistance is 12 million microentrepreneurs,” said the Finance Deputy. Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Hanung Harimba Rachman when contacted Kompas.com, Friday (02/10/2020).

According to him, with the additional roof, his group will increase its absorption so that it can be distributed to various areas where absorption is still small, such as Maluku, Kalimantan and NTT.
Therefore, the government hopes that this BLT UMKM program can be evenly distributed to all corners of the country.
“We see that the areas whose absorption is still small are areas outside of Java. So with this additional ceiling, we want to boost absorption there,” he said.
Furthermore, Hanung also asked the local government to immediately propose commercial actors to the ministry so that they can get help.
With the help of local government and cooperative agencies, the absorption target of 12 million microentrepreneurs can be achieved more quickly.
“The goal is until December, but if it can be faster, the better. So that people can get help quickly,” he explained.
