jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Former TNI commander general (retired) Moeldoko considered Gatot Nurmantyo’s statement about the threat of the rise of the PKI in Indonesia to be too much.
As a TNI commander before Gatot, Moeldoko saw political overtones because he raised the issue of the communist revival with a strained impression.
“As a grassroots-born leader, I can understand event by event. Evaluate event by event. It is impossible for the (PKI) to come suddenly,” Moeldoko said during an interview on Thursday (1/10).
According to him, every movement that appears and forms must have a series that is related to it.
“So don’t go overboard to scare other people,” Moeldoko said.
Moeldoko assessed that the PKI issue is very likely to become a commodity for certain interests.
This can be seen in how the group or staff develop the theme.
“There are two approaches to creating a state of alert. Surveillance is based on a calm and terrifying alert state,” explained the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Presidential General Staff.
When policing is built peacefully then it won’t cause community anxiety.
“But if surveillance is built to be terrifying, there must be certain purposes. Well, those are choices of a leader,” Moeldoko explained.
Moeldoko himself when he became a TNI commander or after serving in the executive chose vigilance to appease.
In addition, Moeldoko continued, the country is currently facing a COVID-19 pandemic, requiring mutual solidarity.
“During a pandemic, building reassuring surveillance is a wise choice,” Moeldoko said. (tan / jpnn)
