Suara.com – Solo mayoral candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka appeared confused when answering host Najwa Shihab’s questions about the reasons for moving forward in the Solo city elections.

This happened when Gibran was a speaker at the event. Mata Najwa entitled ‘Fight Throne in Central PandemI have posted in Trans7 Wednesday (9/30/2020) night.

Initially, Najwa Shihab gave an old video containing Gibran’s statement in late 2018.

In the video, Gibran admits that he is interested in politics but does not want to join anytime soon.

President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) eldest son said Gibran may want to enter politics in about 20 years.

However, just nearly two years after giving this statement, Gibran is now running for Solo City Pilkada to fight for the number one seat in Solo.

“At the time, Mas Gibran said he was interested in (politics) but there are still 20 years to go. He suddenly ran for mayor. What has changed, Mas Gibran?” asked Najwa how do you quote Suara.com, Thursday (01/10/2020).

Gibran immediately responded gently. He emphasized that his intention remains the same as before, to be useful to many people.

“Nothing has changed, my intention remains the same. Before I was an entrepreneur so that I could benefit many people. Now entering politics the intention remains the same. My intention is to benefit even more people,” replied Gibran.

Upon receiving a response from Gibran, Najwa inquired about the time to enter politics which was faster than Gibran’s earlier statement.

“The time frame has changed. At the time, he said it would still be 20 years. Now all of a sudden (it jumped). What made the time frame change so quickly?” Najwa asked.

Upon receiving a question from Najwa, Gibran was silent for a few seconds. He seemed to be searching for the correct answer to Najwa’s question.

Gibran argued that the reason for getting into politics was earlier than expected because he felt he was ready.

“Hmmm yes … What is clear is that, sister, my intention is still equally useful for many people. If the deadline is accelerated, perhaps because I feel ready now,” said Gibran.

Najwa had questioned the existence of encouragement on the part of Jokowi, his father, to advance in Pilkada in order to speed up the time to enter politics.

Gibran quickly denied it. He stressed that the decision to run for mayor of Solo was his own wish.

“No orders, no encouragement. This is purely my own wish. Two years ago I already said I was interested, so I took a step forward,” Gibran said.
