Sound explosion terrible sound in the city Paris, France on Wednesday (9/30) and scared the population. The explosion is known to have originated from the sonic boom of a Rafale fighter jet.
The military said the plane was assisting an airliner that lost radio contact. The Rafales were also allowed to go at supersonic speeds.
“A very loud sound was heard throughout Paris. It was not an explosion, it was a fighter plane breaking the sound barrier,” Paris police said on Twitter.
The noise was heard throughout the city, even rattling the windows of the buildings.
“The Jet Rafale intervened to help an aircraft that lost contact, it was cleared to cross the sound barrier to reach aircraft in distress,” said a spokesman for the French air force. AFP.
The Defense Ministry said the Rafale was assisting an ERJ 145 passenger jet. The 50-seat Brazilian Embraer flew from Brive in the southwest to Saint-Brieuc in the northwest.
“Despite being at an altitude of more than 10,000 meters, the atmospheric conditions made the supersonic explosions very pronounced in the Paris metropolitan area,” he said.
Eventually radio contact returned to the passenger plane. The plane managed to reach its destination and all the passengers survived.

The explosion also disrupted the course of the French Open tennis tournament at Roland Garros. Swiss star Stan Wawrinka and his German opponent Dominik Koepfer stopped in shock from the blast. They were concerned when the sound echoed throughout the stadium.
