The helicopters belonging to the South East Sulawesi Regional Police (Sultra) that flew low to disperse the masses a year after the death of Halu Oleo University students, Randi and Yusuf, were discussed at the working meeting of the Commission III of the RPD with the Chief of the National Police, General Idham Azis. Later, the Chief of the National Police gave an explanation.

Initially, a member of DPR Commission III from the Golkar faction, Supriansa, complained about the South Sulawesi Police helicopter that had flown low to disperse protesters. Supriansa asked Idham to reveal the reason for the helicopter’s dispersal.

Supriansa revealed that the students took steps to demand justice for the death of their friend. However, their action was dissolved by a low-flying helicopter.

“They are very sad, because they think that there are still parties that may be involved but they are not investigated thoroughly. They rose. Then the helicopter flew low there. Luckily the helicopter didn’t go down, try to imagine if it landed there, Police Chief. ”Supriansa said at a Commission III meeting with the Chief of Police in the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta on Wednesday (9/30/2020).

According to Supriansa, this was the first time he saw the dispersal pattern of the masses by helicopter. Supriansa said that while he was a student activist, the police had never dismissed an action like Kendari’s.

“This pattern of our handling is a new model that I have witnessed. I am a student activist, sir. During my time on campus, I was president of the student senate, I had never experienced such a name being dissolved by helicopter. it was flying low, “he said.

For this reason, he asked the Chief of Police to investigate the reason for blowing up the helicopter to disperse the protesters. Supriansa also asked the Police to use a good approach in handling the demonstrations.
