Retired Retired Group TNI, including former TNI commander General (Ret.) Gatot Nurmantyo, make a pilgrimage to the Kalibata Cemetery of Heroes (TMP) in South Jakarta on Wednesday (9/30). In the same place, the masses celebrated manifestation when the group got home.
The coordinator of the Executive Committee of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE) Ahmad Yani also attended the event. He had seen several protesters’ speaker command cars parked around the Kalibata TMP.
“But I did see, after I got in the car and wanted to get out, there were several cars from Kijang and others with the toa-toa. Maybe that’s what the refusal meant,” Ahmad Yani said when contacted. CNNIndonesia.com.
However, he did not know where the protesters came from.
According to him, they arrived in the late afternoon. At that time, several retired TNI figures had returned home because the ceremony and pilgrimage had ended.
At the event, Yani said, Gatot Nurmantyo was also present for a pilgrimage. Nor did he deny that Gatot’s presence allowed the situation to be fueled.
“Pak Gatot just smiled, he showed it, right. But other soldiers if the short shaft is dangerous,” Yani said.
“With the Pak Gatot incident yesterday they were insulted by their commander,” he added.

Previously, Gatot’s presence at WE Gathering, East Java, on Monday (9/28) also received protests from community groups.
South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono confirmed that there had been a group of people demonstrating during a flower planting event at the Kalibata TMP.
Budi said they were present when the flower planting event ended. However, she did not reveal where the mass group came from.
“When it was finished and about to go home, a group came to give speeches,” Budi told reporters on Wednesday (9/30).
Budi said that to avoid clashes, joint police and TNI personnel immediately dispersed the protesters.
“There are no fighting,” Budi said.
He reported that the retired officers immediately returned to their respective residences after the flower-planting ceremony was over.
Ahmad Yani explained that the presence of retired TNI officers in the Kalibata TMP to carry out a pilgrimage and a ceremony in honor of the heroes of the revolution who died in the events of the Movement September 30, 1965.
In the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic situation this time, Ahmad said there were only about 20 people representing retired TNI soldiers to be allowed to enter the Kalibata TMP location.
“What I saw before was General Pak Gatot Nurmantyo, there was Slamet Soebijanto, there was Lieutenant General of the Marine Corps Suharto, there was Major General Soenarko, then there were several other generals,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yani said, WE received an invitation to attend the hero’s pilgrimage activity today. Apart from him, the coalition was represented by various figures such as Rochmat Wahab and Habib Muchsin Alatas.
According to him, Gatot’s presence in this activity was in his capacity as a retired TNI officer, not on behalf of the United States.
