jpnn.com, JAKARTA – A doctor suspected of being involved in the practice of illegal abortion died because he was infected with COVID-19 according to a report from the medical team of the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.
“The person in question died at 09.00 WIB in the emergency room of the Police Hospital,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Kramat Jati Jakarta Police Hospital AKBP Kristianingsih, on Wednesday (9/30).
The patient, with the initials SWS, was detained at Jakarta Police Headquarters on charges of performing an illegal abortion at Jalan Raden Saleh I Kenari’s clinic, Senen, Central Jakarta since Monday (March 8).
The man was arrested along with 16 other suspects suspected of being involved in the practice of illegal abortion.
Kristianingsih said the 84-year-old patient’s test results were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
“Yes, that’s true,” Kristianingsih said when the cause of SWS’s death due to COVID-19 was confirmed.
The abortion clinic case was revealed after the ranks of the Polda Metro Jaya solved the premeditated murder case against Taiwanese.
Researchers at Polda Metro Jaya estimate that the clinic has been in operation for over five years and aborts an average of five to seven fetuses per day.
