Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
The Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) predicts that moderate to heavy rains will hit various parts of Indonesia, including Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) in the next three days.
“Especially for the Greater Jakarta area, the concentration of moderate-heavy intensity rain is still quite potential,” BMKG Meteorology Deputy Guswanto said in an official statement on Sunday (9/27).
Guswatno said that for the Bogor area, rain occurs during the day and night, while in Jakarta the weather conditions are significant as of today and relatively diminish over the next two days.
“The public is advised to remain vigilant and beware of possible extreme weather conditions such as tornadoes, heavy rains accompanied by lightning, hail and others,” he said.
According to Guswanto, a number of areas that are forecast to experience moderate to heavy rains in the past three days include Aceh, North Sumatra,
West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, West Java.
Then Central Java, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
Guswanto explained that the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall occurs due to the Ekuatorial Rossby. Rosby Equatorial is a phenomenon of movement of the air convectivity system in the atmosphere that spreads westward and passes through Indonesian territory.
In addition, there is still a Madden Jullian Oscillation, which is a phenomenon of movement of the convective system of air in the atmosphere that spreads to the east and passes through Indonesian territory.
This phenomenon contributes to an increase in the mass of humid air that favors the formation of rain clouds in the coming days. This condition is reinforced by the warm anomaly of sea surface temperature in Indonesian waters.
“The formation of areas of deceleration and convergence of winds that extend along the west coast of Sumatra, the Karimata Strait, parts of Java, the Makassar Strait and the Banda Sea, and are supported by warm atmospheric conditions and humid in most of Indonesia, “Guswanto said.
“Based on the analysis of various atmospheric phenomena, BMKG predicts that in the next three days, heavy rains may be accompanied by lightning or strong winds,” he added.
