Human rights groups (HAM) criticized the decision to appoint two former members of Rose’s team to become Prabowo’s men. President Jokowi’s promise to resolve past cases of human rights violations has also been highlighted.

The group is a transnational non-governmental organization, Amnesty International. This group opposed two former members of the Mawar team who were appointed ministers to Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

The two former rose teams were Brigadier General TNI Dadang Hendrayudha and Brigadier General Yulius Selvanus. Brigadier General Dadang was appointed Director General of Defense Potential of the Ministry of Defense, while Brigadier General Yulius was appointed Chief of the Defense Ministry’s Strategic Defense Installation Agency.

His appointment is based on Presidential Decree Number 166 / TPA of 2020 regarding the removal and appointment of and to middle-high leadership positions within the Ministry of Defense. The Presidential Decree was signed by President Jokowi on September 23, 2020.

As is well known, the rose team was a group that allegedly kidnapped activists in the reform era. There are 11 staff members from Team Rose who are on military trial.

Based on the decision of case No. PUT.25-16 / K-AD / MMT-II / IV / 1999 displayed on the Kontras website, Brigadier General Dadang Hendrayudha and Brigadier General Yulius Selvanus were between 2 of the 11 members of the pink team who were convicted.

“With the decision of the Defense Minister, it will increasingly be seen that President Jokowi and the RPD RI violate their promises, especially in the investigation of cases of kidnapping of activists and enforced disappearances and human rights violations in the past in this country “Amnesty International Indonesia Executive Director Usman Hamid said on Friday (9/25).
