The South Korean Defense Ministry says that North Korean forces shot dead a South Korean fisheries official who disappeared from a patrol boat and ended up in Pyongyang waters.

The South Korean Defense Ministry has described the North Korean shooting death of an official in the South Korean fisheries sector as “outrageous”.

The 47-year-old man was in a patrol boat near the western border island of Yeonpyeong, the South Korean Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday (9/24/2020).

After conducting an intelligence analysis, the South Korean military “confirmed that North Korea shot a South Korean citizen who was found in the North Sea and incinerated his body,” the South Korean Defense Ministry said.

“We strongly advise North Korea that all responsibility for this incident rests with them,” the South Korean Defense Ministry was quoted as saying by Channel News Asia.
