KOMPAS.com- A dangdut concert was attended by thousands of residents in South Tegal Square, Tegal City, Central Java on Wednesday (9/23/2020).

The concert was organized by DPRD deputy Tegal Wasmad Edi Susilo as entertainment to celebrate weddings and circumcision of members of his family.

The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, assessed that the event was too much.

Because in addition to being attended by thousands of spectators without paying attention to health protocols, the dangdut concerts were also held until the evening.

Furthermore, the organizer is a leader who must set an example.

“If that’s the case, it will be disrespectful, especially if the leaders do it. He’s not a good example for the community,” Ganjar said on Thursday (9/24/2020).

After receiving reports of a dangdut concert in the midst of a pandemic, Ganjar immediately called the mayor of Tegal, Dedi Yon Supriyono.

Dedi, who did not know that the event was taking place until the evening, apologized to Ganjar.

The governor said he did not prohibit weddings. It is just that, it should be limited and not done by gathering the masses.

“I’m just saying, this requires sensitivity on the part of the leader. If it can be limited, we don’t forbid it. Let’s adapt. But if so, go crazy and ignore it, then we are irresponsible. The mayor apologized to me” Ganjar said.

Permission revoked, illegal event

Meanwhile, the police admitted that the organizers had applied for an activity permit, but did not agree with the field conditions.

Long ago, the organizer said that they only had musical entertainment to entertain a limited number of guests at the celebration.

“Pak Wasmad Edi Susilo, who is in fact the vice president of the City of Tegal DPRD, applied for permission on September 1 to arrange for the marriage and circumcision of his son,” said South Tegal Police Chief Kompol Joeharno .

On Wednesday afternoon, the police discovered that it was a huge dangdut concert with thousands of spectators.

His party immediately revoked the permit immediately, making the concert an illegal activity.

“This means that it is an illegal act. Because the permission granted is not in accordance with the initial proposal, until the permit is finally revoked. So there is no security for the members that night,” he said.

“As this activity has been prepared, he (the host) stated that he would not involve TNI and Polri for safety reasons and that he himself would assume all risks that arise,” said Joeharno.

Don’t you dare dissolve

Although he revoked the permit, his party admitted that it could not immediately dismiss the fact.

One reason for this was that the South Tegal Police lacked the personnel to disperse the masses.

“Do not dare to close it by force considering that we of the Police do not have a significant force. The second reason is not good, it feels like we step onto the stage to stop hard, ”he said.

In fact, the police wisely asked the organizers to stop the event, but the concert continued.

Kompas.com I already tried to ask Wasmad Edi Susilo for confirmation, but he was not at the DPRD office in Tegal City.

When called and contacted via WhatsApp, Wasmad also did not respond.
