Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

President of the Association hotel Y restaurant Indonesia (PHRI) DKI Jakarta Krisnadi said that the extension of the tightening of social restrictions on a large scale (PSBB) will have an impact on rising unemployment in the capital.

If this condition is not immediately ended, he said, hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs will return to layoffs (PHK). This is because the company will no longer be able to pay the salaries of the employees in the middle of the minimum income.

“I am trying to record data. If this is extended, for example, October is not over yet and I estimate that employers cannot bear it and will lay off employees,” Krisnadi told CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (24/9).

Since May 2020 alone, according to Krisnadi, the number of hotels and restaurants in Jakarta that have closed due to PSBB has reached one hundred. So far, most of these hotels and restaurants have yet to reopen due to bleak market prospects and high capital requirements.

“There’s no business name, right? They can’t bear it (costs) general expenses that exists. But, of course, when these businesses close they will have problems again. So yes, there is a danger if the condition does not improve soon, “he explained.

Krisnadi also highlighted the ineffectiveness of the Jakarta PSBB tightening during the pandemic. According to him, if the application of the regulations carried out by the government still seems playful and indecisive, the number of new daily cases in DKI Jakarta will not decrease.

“It will be effective if this is followed by all residents, both in Jakarta and outside Jakarta. Health protocols must be carried out seriously and indiscriminately, not just punishment, sorry for saying, little talk about climbing a tree in a coffin, lah. I’m not sure this makes them see reason, “he said.

For information, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has decided to extend the PSBB for the next 14 days or until October 11, 2020.

This decision is based on the results of the monitoring and evaluation of the DKI Jakarta Covid-19 Management Acceleration Working Group and is also contained in DKI Jakarta Governor Decree Number 959 of 2020 that allows a 14-day extension if cases have not decreased significantly.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, expressed that the provincial government of DKI Jakarta continues to coordinate with the central government in handling the Covid-19 case. Data from the Ministry of Coordination of Maritime Affairs and Investments shows that the case data in DKI has been tilted and is under control, but the Bodetabek buffer zone continues to increase.
