KOMPAS.TV – The government of Saudi Arabia will reopen the Umrah pilgrimage from October 4 with restrictions on the number of congregations and the application of the Covid-19 health protocol.

Restrictions are set by paying attention to the number of worshipers in the Grand Mosque or the Prophet’s Mosque.

Several conditions underlie the resumption of the national and foreign Umrah pilgrimage.

One of the concerns of the Government of Saudi Arabia is the country of origin of the Umrah congregation which has the risk-free criteria for Covid-19.

The Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, through its Twitter account, gave an explanation of the reopening of the Umrah pilgrimage with the following statement: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will gradually resume its Umrah services. Ministry of Religion continues to make preparations while waiting for the publication of a list of countries that Saudi Arabia allows to leave the congregation. “

The implementation of umrah will reopen through the pilgrimage stage.

The first phase begins on October 4, 2020 for six thousand members of the congregation, equivalent to 30 percent of the capacity of the Great Mosque.

The second stage of October 18 is open to 15 thousand parishioners.

Meanwhile, on November 1 or level three, the total number of umrah pilgrims per day is 20 thousand people.

The entire series of Umrah pilgrimages is carried out through the implementation of strict health protocols.

The diplomatic and consular official for the socio-cultural function of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, Muhammad Sahrul Murajjab, stated that the opening of the Umrah by the Government of Saudi Arabia was carried out in stages and in view of the development of the pandemic of Covid-19 in the congregation’s country of origin.

About 34,000 Indonesian faithful were postponed by the Umrah moratorium, due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
If the stages of opening the Umrah by the Government of Saudi Arabia are carried out according to plan and permission is granted to Indonesia.

Congregations that are late in departure should take priority.

Of course, with the implementation of strict health protocols.
