KOMPAS.com – In response to one of the distance learning problems during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) provided fee assistance for educators and students.

“Internet data quota assistance is provided to students, students, teachers and lecturers,” said Monday (9/21/2020) Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ainun Na’im, on the website official of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

From Tuesday (9/22/2020) to Thursday (9/24/2020), the Ministry of Education and Culture has distributed the first stage of assistance by internet fees.

Referring to the 2020 Technical Assistance Guidelines on Internet Data Quotas in the Secretary General’s Regulation Number 14 of 2020, the Ministry of Education and Culture provides 2 types of Internet data quotas, namely, general and learning.

Two types of fee assistance

The general fee is intended to access all activities on the Internet. Meanwhile, the learning quota can only be used on certain sites and applications.

Looking at the list of quota-belajar.kemdikbud.go.id, beneficiaries can use the study fee to access 401 website university, 22 website, 19 applications and 5 videos conference.

The head of the Office of Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Evy Mulyani, explained the purpose of the Ministry of Education and Culture to differentiate the fees into 2 types.

By dividing it in two, Evy wants to anticipate the misuse of Internet data quota. The overall fee proportion is also less than the learning fee.

All students of Early Childhood Education (PAUD), primary, secondary, students and teachers only get 5 GB for the general quota.

Below is a breakdown of the quota obtained.

1. PAUD students
General quota: 5 GB
Study quota: 15 GB
Total Internet Quota Package: 20GB / month

2. Students of primary and secondary education
General quota: 5 GB
Study quota: 30 GB
Total Internet Quota Package: 35GB / month

3. Educators of infant, primary and secondary education
General quota: 5 GB
Study quota: 37 GB
Total Internet Quota Package: 42GB / month

4. Students and teachers
General quota: 5 GB
Study quota: 45 GB
Total Internet Quota Package: 50GB / month

Shelf life and distribution

The period of validity of the Internet data quota of the Ministry of Education and Culture is 30 days from the receipt of the data quota on the mobile phone numbers of educators and students. This regulation applies during the first and second month of delivery of assistance.

The notification of receiving this quota also comes from a short message or SMS delivered to the registered numbers.

If you don’t have it, the government is still in the process of awarding a quota.

The reason is that in the first month, the Ministry of Education and Culture divides the distribution of quotas into 2 stages. The first stage starts from September 22-24, 2020. Then, the second stage is from September 28-30, 2020.

After that, the Ministry of Education and Culture has distributed a schedule for the distribution of free fees as shown below.

1. Internet data quota assistance for the second month:
Phase I: October 22-24, 2020
Phase II: October 28-30, 2020

2. Internet data quota assistance for the third and fourth months (sent simultaneously):
Phase I: November 22-24, 2020
Phase II: November 28-30, 2020

To support distance education, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Budget Section and the State Treasurer General (BA BUN) 2020 have allocated funds of 8.9 billion IDR.

They used a budget of Rs 7.2 trillion to subsidize the internet quota for 4 months. Meanwhile, 1.7 trillion IDR is used for professional grants for teachers, educational staff, professors and professors.
