The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) raised its voice on Bambang Trihatmodjo’s lawsuit against Finance Minister Sri Mulyani at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN). The lawsuit is related to the ban on traveling abroad due to receivables from the state at the 1997 SEA Games.

According to the General Staff of Finance Minister Yustinus Prastowo, the ban on former President Soeharto’s son was due to the fact that Bambang was found to have defaulted on his debt obligations.

“There are state accounts receivable that have not been paid or canceled,” Yustinus told detikcom, Thursday (9/17/2020).

According to Yustinus, the ban against Bambang could have been lifted as long as he paid his debt first.

“In principle, the ban can be lifted if it is done in full, the payment of the state debt is made,” he said.

The same was conveyed by the Head of the Information and Communication Services Office, Rahayu Puspasari. Rahayu added that Bambang’s ban was a suggestion from the DKI Jakarta State Accounts Receivable Committee (PUPN) guidance.

“Bambang TH cannot travel abroad on the recommendation of the DKI PUPN because Bambang TH has dependents who have not returned to the state,” Rahayu said.

Before any effort to block it, Rahayu continued, DKI Jakarta PUPN had summoned and warned Bambang on this matter. However, the interested parties ignored it.

“Previously, DKI PUPN had summoned or warned the interested party several times, but never attended to fulfill the summons. After several citations that were not complied with, PUPN proposed a ban against Bambang TH. This is in accordance with the applicable regulations ”, he explained.

However, according to Rahayu, so far his party has not received any lawsuits from the Jakarta State Administrative Court.

“Until now, the Ministry of Finance has not received notification of the lawsuit,” he said.
