Do not wear diving and polishing masks in public areas

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Covid-19 Management Working Group emphasized that it does not recommend the use of diving or buff masks in a number of public facilities.

This was stated by Wiku Adisasmito, spokesperson for the Covid-19 Working Group at a press conference at the Presidential Office, the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/15/2020).

“This scuba mask is a single layer mask and it is too thin. So the possibility of translucency and it cannot be filtered is higher. That is why it is advisable to use a quality mask,” said Wiku.

Wiku explained that the best masks to use are surgical masks for sick people and cloth masks made of cotton and have three layers for people who are not sick.

“Why? Because the ability to filter or filter virus particles will be better with a greater number of layers,” he said.

Wiku recalled that the use of diving masks is often abused. Therefore, the government urges the public to wear the masks in the correct way.

Previously, PT Kereta Commuterline Indonesia (KCI) asked Electric Rail Train (KRL) users to avoid wearing diving masks and buffs. Because this is only 5% effective in preventing the risk of exposure, dust, viruses and bacteria.
