Timo Werner immediately began his official debut for Chelsea. The 24-year-old forward revealed what it was like to play in the Premier League.
Werner was signed by Chelsea from RB Leipzig in July for a dowry of £ 47.5 million. He was immediately deployed as a starter in the season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion at Amex Stadium, early Tuesday morning (9/15/2020) WIB.
Chelsea won 3-1 with Werner for the full 90 minutes. The player, who was signed for five years, did not score a goal, but he looked promising.
“It was tough after 1-1, but then Reece scored an incredible goal. We are very happy to win today,” he said. BBC.
Throughout the 90 minutes, Werner fired five shots with one aimed at goal. He made a key pass, made 36 touches and had a 79% pass accuracy as the scorer scored.
Werner was instrumental in Chelsea’s first goal, which was scored by Jorginho from the penalty spot. His stab forced Mat Ryan to take action that culminated in a foul.
After the match, Werner was asked about his first impression of debuting in the Premier League and the difference to Germany.
“The game is very different. There are more loopholes, but when you go into the second half, the game is completely different and it changes completely. Brighton is very problematic for us,” Werner continued.
“I faced three great defenders, you don’t get that in Germany. It’s great to be here and I think it’s a good first game for me and for the team.”

“We have a lot of players who have no rhythm at the moment, but I think we will get better and better when we play more together,” he added.
Chelsea will face defending champion Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the second week of the Premier League. In their opening game, Liverpool struggled to beat promoted team Leeds United 4-3.
