Rossi’s statement after failing on the podium in the San Marino MotoGP: I have not given up on chasing champions

KOMPAS.com – MotoGP living legend Valentino Rossi has not given up on chasing the world champion this season after failing on the podium at the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday (9/13/2020).

Rossi lost his second podium this season despite the race having few laps left.

Starting the race from fourth place, Rossi managed to get into second place, behind Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT). He continued to follow Morbidelli throughout the race.

However, towards the end of the race, Rossi slowed even more.

The driver nicknamed The Doctor was also overtaken by Francesco Bagnaia (Pramac Racing) as the race entered on lap 21.

Rossi fell to third place and stayed in that position until the last lap.

However, when he entered the last corners, Rossi was overtaken by Joan Mir (Suzuki) and had to be willing to lose the podium.

After the race, Rossi said that he had not given up on winning the 10th world title in his career.

He said there were no favorite champions for this season.

“Obviously now there is no favorite for the champion. Every rider has a problem or makes a mistake,” said the Monster Energy Yamaha rider. BallSport of GPOne.

“Now the leader of the classification is (Andrea) Dovizioso, who is in trouble and does not know about his future.”

“This is definitely a strange situation. I have 18 points behind him, but there are still a lot of races to go.”

“I will try not to give up (chasing the title), anything can happen this year,” Rossi said.

Rossi is also determined to be faster in accelerating his motorcycle.

“The championship is starting to get interesting, but if I want to win, I have to be faster,” he said.
