The Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI) did not accept that Syekh Ali Jaber was stabbed by an unknown person in Lampung. MUI requested that the stabbing case be openly prosecuted so as not to arouse suspicion in the community.
“MUI really cannot accept this behavior and action because violence and stabbing are enemies of peace and destroyers of unity and integrity,” MUI General Secretary Anwar Abbas said in a written statement to detikcom, Monday (9/14/2020).
Anwar mentioned the act of stabbing Sheikh Ali Jaber as an act of hostility towards the ulama. He is concerned that this incident may raise great suspicions.
“This really reflects an act of blatant hostility towards the ulama and this action is clearly very dangerous because it will destroy unity and integrity and raise suspicions among fellow citizens of the nation,” Anwar said.
MUI agrees with the statement of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud Md, that this case should be dismantled. MUI supports the dismantling of the network that houses the perpetrators.
“MUI strongly supports the statement of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md, who instructed the Lampung security apparatus to expose the network and the motives of the perpetrator of the stabbing of the famous Sheikh Ali Jaber,” he said.
