The success of these Italian riders also caught the attention of Valentino Rossi.

The runner nicknamed The Doctor immediately congratulated Luca, Marco and Enea, before the three of them took the podium.

As for the Indonesian rider Andi Farid Izdihar, he was unable to finish the race. The runner who is familiarly called Andi Gilang experienced shock on lap 17.

This is the second time Andi Gilang has failed to finish in Moto2 2020. Previously he was unable to finish in the Austrian MotoGP due to an incident with another rider.

The course of the race

With a good start, Luca Marini immediately passed his rivals at Turn 1 to take first place.

Marini left his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, who finished second. The distance between the two had already reached half a second in no time.

Bezzecchi himself was able to secure his position. Behind Marini, Bezzecchi was 1.7 seconds ahead of Enea Bastiannini in third place on lap seven.

Bastianini was able to slowly approach Bezzecchi in second place. Unfortunately Bastianini lost the momentum to overtake after nearly falling into Turn 8 on lap 16.

With five laps remaining, Marini performed his maneuver at Turn 8. However, Bezzecchi did not want to lose and regained his position.

The competition between Marini and Bezzecchi gave Bastianini the advantage to close the gap again.

Bezzecchi made a mistake with two laps remaining. Bastianini is now right behind him.

Luckily for Bezzecchi, he was able to keep his place. These results saw the SKY Racing VR46 team finish 1-2 in the San Marino MotoGP.

These full points have placed Marini firmly in the top spot of the 2020 Moto2 standings.
