Responding to this phenomenon, Polda Metro Traffic Director Jaya Kombes (Pol) Sambodo Purnomo Yogo emphasized that there are criminal penalties for parties participating in illegal racing races.

Illegal driving is not allowed because it is often done without permission from the police and closes roads to disrupt the flow of traffic.

“It is not allowed. Everyone cannot do it without permission from the authorities,” Sambodo said when contacted on Sunday (9/13/2020).

Sambodo explained that there are criminal penalties for those determined to pursue an illegal career.

The sanction refers to article 12 subsection 1 of Law No. 38 of 2004 on Roads.

In that article, it is stipulated that every person is prohibited from committing an act that results in the interruption of the function of the road in the road benefit space.
