MotoGP San Marino results – Morbidelli champion, Rossi did not get on the podium

KOMPAS.com – Franco Morbidelli won the 2020 MotoGP San Marino. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia took second place, while Valentino Rossi had to settle for finishing fourth.

The San Marino GP, which is the sixth series on the 2020 MotoGP calendar, was held at the Misano Circuit, Rimini, on Sunday (9/13/2020) WIB afternoon.

Previously in MotoGP Styria, Miguel Oliveira of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team emerged as the winner.

In this San Marino MotoGP, four Yamaha riders occupy the four front racks.

Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha), who emerged as the fastest in the qualifying session, started the race from pole position, followed by the Petronas Yamaha SRT duet, namely Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo.

Viñales’ Monster Energy Yamaha partner Valentino Rossi completes Yamaha’s dominance in qualifying by taking the fourth grid.

The 2020 San Marino MotoGP race course

Franco Morbidelli started the race very well. He took the lead moments after the start, followed by Valentino Rossi in second place.

Meanwhile, Viñales was third, followed by Jack Miller.

Morbidelli held his position until he entered lap 2. Behind him, Rossi continued to apply pressure.

Miller advanced to third position after successfully beating Vinales. In the first two positions, Morbidelli and Rossi were involved in a fierce duel with a distance of only 0.3 seconds.

On lap 7, Viñales lost fourth position after being overtaken by Fabio Quartararo. After that, however, Quartararo fell at Turn 4 to bring Viñales back to number four.

However, Quartararo was able to continue the race.

Going into lap 10, Vinales’ position slipped further after Alex Rins and Francesco Bagnaia successively smoked.

Meanwhile, Morbidelli continues to lead the race with Rossi behind him in second place.

On lap 12, Morbidelli began to extend the distance with Rossi to 0.7 seconds.

On lap 14, Rins advanced to third position after beating Miller.

Rins really showed his skill in the MotoGP San Marino race. The Suzuki rider began to threaten the position of Valentino Rossi as the race left 13 more laps.

In the leading position, Morbidelli constantly maintains his distance from Rossi, even reaching 2 seconds going into lap 18.

When the race left seven laps, Quartararo fell again. This time, he couldn’t keep running.

The race for the top three grows fiercer after Rossi lost second place after being overtaken by Rins and Bagnaia. However, The Doctor could take third place from Rins on lap 22.

The duel for second place heats up when the race leaves five laps. Bagnaia, Rossi and Rins had a fierce duel for second place.

In the first position, Morbidelli moves further and further away from his rivals.

Franco Morbidelli was finally able to win the 2020 San Marino MotoGP race with a total time of 42 minutes 2,272 seconds. Meanwhile, the second position belongs to Francesco Bagnaia.

Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi had to settle for finishing fourth after Joan Mir overtook him on the last lap.
