Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The coordinating minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments (Menko Marves), Luhut B. Pandjaitan, said that he had just received news that from the G42, Indonesia would receive 10 million years of vaccine this year.

The vaccine will be prioritized for health workers, officials who interact directly with the community. Then there will be another 23 million, which are intended for the community at large.

“I believe that by the middle of next year about 150 million will be vaccinated, if everything goes according to plan,” he said in a press release on Saturday (12/9/2020).

G42 is an artificial intelligence-based United Arab Emirates (UAE) healthcare technology company. The company is actively involved in the research, development and distribution of Covid-19 treatment and testing applications.

In line with Luhut, the chairman of the Committee for the Management of Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) Erick Thohir reported that PT Kimia Farma has also collaborated with a company from the United Arab Emirates, Group 42 (G42) and you will get 10 million doses of vaccine by the end of 2020, and then add it. another 50 million doses that Indonesia will receive by the end of the first quarter of 2021.

This was expressed by Erick when he met with Vice President KH Maruf Amin on Friday (9/11).

In addition to the UAE vaccine, Erick said Indonesia will receive 30 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of 2020 and 300 million doses by 2021.

Erick said the vaccine was the result of cooperation between various pharmaceutical BUMNs with foreign pharmaceutical institutions and agencies such as PT Bio Farma (Persero) and Sinovac Biotech from China. Sinovac itself has committed to providing 20 million doses of the vaccine by the end of this year if the phase 3 clinical trial process runs smoothly. Meanwhile, by next year, up to 250 million doses will be produced for Indonesia.

“InsyaAllah, by the end of this year there are 30 million (vaccines) and next year there will be 300 million. But for the record, out of the total we get 330 million maybe 340 million,” Erick said.

Erick recalled that this number was not enough for the mass vaccination of the Indonesian people. Erick explained that the vaccination process requires two injections for each individual, so of this number, only 170 million people only need to be vaccinated.

Therefore, the Government is also conducting evaluations with health institutions such as the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovation (CEPI), the world health agency (WHO), Unicef and other multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Astrazeneca, Cansino and Pfizer.

“Everything is explored. If it can be covered up to 70 percent, we hope that in 2022 or even 2021, it can get 30 percent,” Erick said.
