Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Floor leader PDIP in the DPRD DKI Jakarta Gembong Warsono suspected the governor Anies Baswedan had political motives behind his plans to re-impose large-scale social restrictions (PSBB). According to him, it is natural that there are suspicions.
Gembong said that currently all parties are integrating policies between the economic and health sectors. However, Anies wanted to strictly implement the PSBB.
“The strict implementation of the PSBB policy amidst an integrated policy situation between Covid-19 prevention and the economy reflects Governor Anies Baswedan’s side as a politician,” Gembong said in a press release on Saturday (9 / 12).
“It is not surprising that we suspect that there are other political motives behind the strict implementation of PSBB’s policy,” he added.
Gembong emphasized that strict enforcement of the PSBB would only harm the small community that would be affected by its economy. Furthermore, the provincial government of DKI Jakarta has not issued a solution to cover this.
“During the Covid 19 pandemic, Governor Anies Baswedan really has to think like a leader mirroring a statesman,” Gembong said.
Gembong also said that the increase in corona positive cases in Jakarta was still occurring because the DKI Jakarta provincial government had not functioned optimally.
Even if strict PSBB is re-implemented, it cannot guarantee that the transmission will drop.
“On the contrary, there are social costs that the community must bear,” Gembong said.
Therefore, the PDIP faction in the DKI Jakarta DPRD asked Anies to cancel the plan to implement the PSBB. It is known that the provincial government of DKI Jakarta plans to implement the PSBB from September 14th for the next 2 weeks.
Under the plan, Anies would only allow 11 economic sectors to continue operating. The rest must be done at home or there are no office activities. Public areas will also be closed or restricted to reduce the rate of transmission of the corona virus.
