Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Senior journalist Peter Frans Gontha published a letter rejecting the richest person in Indonesia for the re-creation of the total Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) rule in Jakarta by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
In an Instagram post on Saturday (12/9/2020), Gontha posted a rejection letter written by Robert Budi Hartono for Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
“Letter from Budi Hartono, the richest man in Indonesia to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, September 2020,” wrote Peter, who is a former Indonesian ambassador to Poland, as a description of several photos he posted.
The letter explained that there were several reasons why they refused to reintroduce the PSBB. One of them is because regulation is said to have proven ineffective in stopping the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19) outbreak.
“In our opinion, the decision to reintroduce the PSBB (total) is not correct. This is because the PSBB in Jakarta has been shown to be ineffective in reducing the growth rate of infection in Jakarta. (Evidence attached – Box A of countries that have managed to reduce infection rates through circuit breaker measures), “the letter said.
“In Jakarta, even though the government of DKI Jakarta has implemented the PSBB, the growth rate of the infection continues to increase. (Evidence attached – Box B – DKI Jakarta),” he explained.
Furthermore, they also considered Anies’s reason for reintroducing the PSBB was because he was concerned about the capacity of hospitals in Jakarta as unreasonable.
“The capacity of DKI Jakarta hospitals will continue to reach its maximum capacity with or without applying PSBB. This is because the regional / central government must continue to prepare independent isolation areas to handle the increase in cases,” explains the letter from Budi Hartono, owner of Djarum Group and BCA.
The letter also said that one of the solutions the government could take, for example, was to build an emergency hospital in the port, as Singapore did.
“Example of the attached solution: Here is a photo in the Port of Singapore building the capacity of an air-conditioned isolation container in anticipation of a sudden increase in cases requiring medical attention. Such a facility can be installed and built in a short period of time (less than 2 weeks – Photo 1 – because it uses a container that only needs to be installed by air conditioning and stairs) “. He explained.

The letter was issued after Anies Baswedan announced last Wednesday that he would reintroduce the PSSB in Jakarta as of September 14, 2020. The reason is because he saw the development of the Covid-19 DKI Jakarta case and the support of hospital facilities being considered emergency.
“At the meeting it was concluded that we will pull the emergency brake, which means that we are forced to re-implement the PSBB as in the first days of the pandemic. It is no longer a transitory PSBB but we must carry out the PSBB as in the first days, “Anies told Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.
During the entire period of PSBB, it prohibited the operation of offices and would close all entertainment venues. Anies also appealed to residents not to leave Jakarta.
