Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
The Chairman of the PDI-P faction in the DPRD DKI, Gembong Warsono, urged the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to completely cancel the Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) which will start on Monday (14/9).
Gembong blamed Anies’ political motive and said the full PSBB would be a severe blow to the small community that had slumped since the corona pandemic emerged in Indonesia.
“Stop and cancel Governor Anies Baswedan’s full / strict social restraint (PSBB) plan in DKI Jakarta,” he said, quoted in a written statement, on Saturday (9/12).
Gembong said that discipline in compliance with health protocols is most decisive in breaking the chain of spread of the corona virus.
He assessed that the provincial government of DKI Jakarta has failed to ensure discipline when implementing the first volume of PSBB, so the re-implementation of the PSBB will not improve health factors, while the social costs of society are increasing.
“Until now, the DKI Jakarta Regional Government has yet to see any real meaning,” he added.
Gembong assessed that DKI Pemprov’s plan actually caused controversy.
“Not bad if we criticize the request for revocation of Regional Regulation No. 10/1999 on Regional Reserve Funds amounting to Rs 1,449 trillion which may be linked to shortcuts by the DKI Jakarta Regional Government which have failed to restore the economic conditions and require instant income / financing, “he explained.
He stated that the strict implementation of the PSBB policy amidst an integrated policy situation between ‘Covid 19 prevention and the economy’ felt more like Anies’ side as a politician.
“It is not surprising that we suspect that there are other political motives behind the strict implementation of PSBB’s policy,” he said.
Earlier this week, Anies Baswedan stated that DKI Jakarta would re-implement the full PSBB, from the original transitional PSBB.
Anies’ decision to re-implement the PSBB was also based on several things. Among them is the projection that referral hospitals in Jakarta will not be able to survive until September 17, 2020.
The addition of positive daily cases in Jakarta is known to continue to rise. Since the beginning of September, positive cases have risen to 1,000 cases per day.
It is known that the positive cases of Covid-19 in DKI until Friday (9/11) reached 51,635, with 39,128 recovered and 1,368 dead.
Earlier, announcing the plan to remove the ’emergency brake’, that is, to re-implement the PSBB, Anies cited a message from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“The president firmly stated two days ago that the economy should not start until health is under control,” Anies said.
