TANGERANG SELATAN, KOMPAS.com – The Banten provincial government has decided not to strictly re-implement Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), as the DKI Jakarta provincial government has done.
This was stated by Banten Governor Wahidin Halim at the PSBB assessment meeting with the regional heads and Forkompinda of the Tangerang Raya area in Tangerang city on Friday (11/9/2020).
“We do not know of the ’emergency brake’, but we continue to carry out the PSBB continuously in the management of Covid-19 in Banten,” Wahidin said in an official statement on Friday evening.
According to Wahidin, since last April the Tangerang Raya area, which includes the city and regency of Tangerang, and South Tangerang, has continued to implement the PSBB.

Unlike DKI Jakarta, which last June implemented a transitional PSBB with relaxes on several lines.
“From the beginning, Banten has continued the PSBB. What sets it apart at the moment is that it is broader in regencies / cities than Tangerang,” Wahidin said.
The PSBB continues to be implemented to increase public awareness about the implementation of the Covid-19 prevention health protocol in all activities.
“Public awareness of the health protocols has been good. But we will raise it again,” he said.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan finally hit the emergency brake by strictly re-implementing the PSBB.

The implementation of the PSBB, as the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, will begin on September 14, 2020, replacing the transitional PSBB that has been implemented by DKI since last June 5.
“There are not many options for Jakarta except to apply the emergency brake as soon as possible,” Anies said at a press conference broadcast on the YouTube channel of the DKI Jakarta provincial government on Wednesday night (9/9/2020) .
The decision to re-implement the PSBB had to be made due to several considerations. Starting with the death rate from Covid-19, to the availability of beds in isolation rooms and ICU rooms that are running low in Jakarta.
Then, starting next Monday, a series of community and office activities will be limited with the obligation to implement a work-from-home system.
Additionally, other policies that were also enforced were strict restrictions on public transportation to limit the movement of citizens and temporarily abolish the peer-to-peer rule for vehicles.
